I have been eyeball deep in finals and survived… That’s where I’ve been all week. But, we did have a fun little end of class experiment I’d like to share.
Imagine trying to fit as many hooks and genre tropes as possible into 100 words or less.
Yep, you heard me. As many as you can jam in and still make a lick of sense and it has to be 100 words or less. Here’s what I came up with:
“In a world populated by lightening wielding werewolves, mutant zombies, and too-cool-for-school vampires, Daniella has a problem. She can’t find a life-mate. The silver-oxide content of her skin causes reactions in the Mutts, Z’s don’t date LV’s, and she perpetually smells of garlic due to a medical condition. If only the Vamps’ sunscreen would cover the stench… But it doesn’t, and she’s fast approaching her deadline. Daniella’s breath-count is down to thirteen months and seventeen days. Can she find someone willing to split air before it’s too late?”
What do you think? Plenty to work with and lots of ways to go. I’m probably going to hang on to this little morsel, use it as a seed or ten for side projects.
I’d love to know what you think and to see your own experiments. Please feel free to leave them in the comments below. Let’s make it a game!
